Spencer Burke is the recipient of the 2018 William C. and Glenda L. Finnie Adjunct Faculty Award. Spencer is an Adjunct Lecturer in Family Business at the Olin School of Business, Washington University in St. Louis as well as a Principal at St. Louis Trust & Family Office.
“This award recognizes exceptional adjunct faculty whose enthusiasm, teaching, and business experience combine to inspire and energize our students,” said Olin’s former dean Mahendra Gupta. It was created in 2009 by Bill Finnie and his wife Glenda who provided a generous endowment gift to recognize Olin’s adjunct professors.
Spencer’s research and teaching are focused on best practices leading to the long-term sustainability of family and employee owned businesses. His current course is called “Ownership Insights—The Competitive Advantage of Family and Employee Owned Firms”. Spencer is also responsible for organizing and moderating the Olin School’s Annual Family Business Symposium., which has become the signature public event for the Olin School Family Business Program.
